list of Japanese terms found in Danzan-Ryû Jûjutsu.
It is designed to help the
Jûjutsu student or teacher easily locate the correct
definition of the terms in
Danzan-Ryû.

- The Japanese
Term is the romanization of one or a combination of Kanji
(Chinese characters).
- Long vowels are
indicated with a circumflex (^) over the vowel. (e.g.: ô
& û)
- The Kanji
were generated by Stephen Chung's JWP and converted to small (~1 KB)
GIF files. In some cases, both older and simplified versions are shown.
- The Nelson
Number refers to the Kanji numbers found in: The
Original Modern Reader's Japanese English Character Dictionary
by Andrew Nathaniel Nelson, 1962, Charles E. Tuttle
Company. For example, the term "Akushu" is made up of two Kanji that
are found in Nelson as Kanji numbers #1963 and #1827.
- The English
Translation is an accurate representation of the Kanji's (or
Kanji combination's) meaning. These definitions have been painstakingly
verified by both dictionaries and recognized Danzan-Ryû
experts who are fluent in Japanese, most notably Professor Tony Janovich.
- The Sample
Usage is an example of how the Japanese Term is used in
Danzan-Ryû. This is not intended to be a complete listing of
all of the Kanji's occurrences in Danzan-Ryû. The Japanese
term is shown in boldface.
- Certain
Japanese words will a consonant (most often the first), depending on
the usage. This does not change the meaning of the term. Examples of
this are: Shime vs. Jime,
While
Danzan-Ryû shares
some terminology with other styles, I have limited this list to
Danzan-Ryû
Japanese vocabulary. This work is intended to be a
starting point for your further research into Danzan-Ryû
Jûjutsu.
