Sensei
Karen Panker is the Chief Instructor at the Virginia Kodenkan. She began her training in
Danzan Ryu Jujutsu in 1995 at the Virginia Kodendan in Falls Church, Virginia under the
tutelage of Sensei George Arrington. She currently holds the rank of
Nidan. She also studies Icho Yama Ryu Aiki Jujutsu under
Sensei David Lamond at the Quantico Dojo in Woodbridge, Virginia and holds the
black belt rank of Shodan. In addition to these arts, she
recently received a Sankyu rank in Daito Ryu Aiki Jujutsu Kodokai.
Karen
is a Life Member of Jujitsu America and the
International Hoplology Society, and received the Jujutsu America Ohana Award for the
Virginia Kodenkan in 1996.
As
a member of Sensei Arrington's dojo, Karen produced a joint seminar featuring four local
martial arts instructors in 1995, produced a "Martial Arts Lecture Series" of
four prominent martial artists in 1996, began a "Sensei Exchange" between two
sister dojos, and co-directed the 1998 Jujitsu America Convention in Arlington, Virginia.
Sensei Panker became the Dojo Cho, or
Chief Instructor of the Virginia Kodenkan on September 10, 2000.
